Bogus checks cost Oklahoma retailers hundreds of thousands of dollars per year and those costs are passed on to consumers.  The Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office provides much needed assistance to retail merchants throughout Central Oklahoma in recovering lost revenues from bogus checks.

 

The penalties for use of any false or bogus check can range from imprisonment for up to one year and a fines up to $5,000.  In some cases, felony bogus check writing can lead to a ten year prison sentence.  Bad check writers need to think twice before passing that bad check.

 

The Oklahoma County District Attorney's Bogus Check Division realizes that not all bogus checks are intentional and we work closely with retailers to ensure the revenue is recovered, and with the consumers who inadvertently pass a bad check due to uncontrollable circumstances.
